The Irish have a special meaning for dogs. They are part of our culture, our history. Much is said about them in stories and myths from Ireland. The tallest dog the world is the Irish Wolfhound, originally bred to hunt deer and wolves. Well known Irish dog breeds are the Irish Red and White Setter Irish Water Spaniel, Kerry Blue. We terriers: The Irish terrier, Terrier Wheat, and The Glen of Imaal Terrier. The Irish dog breeds mentioned were bred to work. They are strong, smart and brave, and very good looking dogs.

We have made a list of Irish names that fit a dog. Besides the well known
Irish names and their meanings, others have been introduced. We have suggested
dog breeds that suit the names. We have included the word that sounds good
are sometimes whimsical and poetic.
