Can a laptop purchases made before I started my business is tax deductible after starting my business?

Yes, but if you wait too long to not be able to deduct the full purchase price. If you purchase property for personal use after converted to commercial use, you can only deduct the lower actual purchase price or value on the date you started using it for business. Technically, you must depreciate a computer, but also be able to claim an immediate deduction of reporting as a Section 179 deduction.
